A world of authentic art experiences.

The Arts Education Projects you see here reflect how the arts come to life through schools, artists, and community organizations. These projects support a variety of teaching and learning opportunities for preschool through high school students. Framed by the Core Arts Standards, the projects reach diverse students, encourage community partnerships, and nurture student development through creativity.
Treasure Valley Children’s Theater

Artist Educator, Cassie Angley, worked closely with students at Taft Elementary to initiate two Readers Theater Workshops for youth.

Salmon Arts Council

Missoula Children’s Theatre engaged students in a week long theatrical workshop commencing with a production of the students work.

The JACC Guitar Residency

Post Falls High School guitar students received direct instruction from residency artist, Brad Richter,on-site and via Skype instruction.

The Log Cabin: Writers in the Schools

Writers in the Schools (WITS) provides students, many of whom are at-risk and under-served, the chance to improve their reading and writing skills.

Year of the Brass

Year of the Brass is a project that connects brass players in grades 5-12 with professional musicians.

Music Conservatory of Sandpoint

Taught by highly trained music instructors, the summer camp provides classes to families where music education has otherwise diminished.

McCall Arts and Humanities Council

334 students from the rural districts of McCall, Donnelly, and New Meadows participated in the Art School program under the tutelage of professional artists.

Boise Philharmonic: Explore Music!

The Explore Music! program provides an array of programs for students from across the Treasure Valley supporting and introducing classical music.

Festival Dance

Festival Dance sponsored five Youthreach projects featuring professional touring companies reaching over 2,000 students and teachers in Northern Idaho.

Boise Art Museum

Approximately 8,000 Idaho students and their teachers experienced a school tour through the Free School Tour Program.

WINDOWS Arts Education

WINDOWS programs seek to give students a better understanding of cultures through the arts.


5,432 elementary students from schools in Eastern Idaho participated in Visual Arts Education at the ARTitorium in Idaho Falls.

Opera Idaho’s The Enchanted Forest

Anna Young’s opera The Enchanted Forest was presented to elementary and middle schools featuring 51 performances and reaching nearly 20,000 students.

Creative Access Artists

Artist in Residence program provides arts education to students with special needs across Idaho in community centers and public schools.

High Mountain Strings

The (HMS) program expands performing arts opportunities in McCall’s rural area, providing a youth orchestra and private lessons.

Ballet Idaho: Learning Through Dance

The (LTD) program places a professional dance educator in third grade classrooms for 10 weeks to teach students basic movements and terminology.

Arts on Tour

In partnership with the Magic Valley Arts Council and school districts, Arts on Tour brings a number of performances to local students.

Idaho Falls Symphony Outreach

Various programs are designed to provide music education to local students and foster music appreciation in the next generation.

Stages of Wonder

Company of Fool’s Teaching artists teach theatre to a total of 89 classes, working with over 1400 students in the Blaine County elementary schools.

Seven Devils Student Playwright Program

80 students from McCall Donnelly HS write original plays, receive feedback , begin rehearsal process, and then perform their works free to the public.

Prichard After School Art Program

Two outreach programs are including an after school long-term engagement program and school tours surrounding the Moscow-Pullman area.

ARTworks Education Program

The Art Museum of Eastern Idaho brings students for guided exhibit tours with related art lessons, and provides educational opportunities for educators.

Idaho Shakespeare Festival

The Festival travels the state—into small towns, rural settings and remote locales—reaching roughly 50,000 students and teachers each year from February to May.

Building Dance Literacy

This residency brought 9 Repertory Dance Theatre professionals to West Ada schools for three days of building dance literacy

Around the World with Drum and Dance

250 Cascade students were introduced to Brazilian samba and Japanese taiko with a week long outreach.

Boise Contemporary Theater Lab

BCT Theater Lab offers students workshops to not only appear in a play, but also to conceive, write, produce and perform in their own original productions.

Lapwai Schools Orchestra Program

Lapwai schools have offered band, choir, dance, drama and Native culture arts in the past but never stringed instruments until now.

Writers at Harriman 2018

Through workshops, conferencing, and hands-on activities, students engage in writing for personal growth and to understand the creative process.

Summer Institute for Piano and Strings

Students participating in the institute are given the opportunity to rehearse and perform in the state-of-the-art Jensen Grand Concert Hall.

BCT Theater Lab

The program consists of two components: after-school courses and in-school workshops creating new works of theater.
