On October 18, 2019, artists of the Coeur d’Alene cohort of the Artrepreneur Program gathered at the Jacklin Arts and Cultural Center for the opening reception of Rooted, a collection of artworks responding to the artists’ sense of place. The Artrepreneur program is founded on the idea that an artist’s identity is based in where they come from and how they function in that context. Their first assignment is to study the landscape, whether their conception of the landscape is geographic, historic, political, socio-economic, or theoretical. 54 works by 14 artists were included.
