Call to Filmmakers: RFQ for Video Production
The Idaho Commission on the Arts is requesting qualifications from Idaho filmmakers to produce short, artful vignettes about Commission individual artist grant recipients. Six filmmakers will be awarded $1,500 each to complete a film (2.5 – 3 min. in length) that will be utilized by the Commission to promote the featured artists, the filmmakers, the agency, and granting programs.
Each film will consist of a voiceover with related images. The filmmaker will be provided with a WAV audio file of an interview with the subject, pre-edited for length. The filmmaker will produce all additional elements, which may include, but are not limited to, filming subjects in their workspaces, lighting, graphics, animation, editing, and music. The filmmaker will provide their own production facilities and equipment; they will be expected to communicate with Commission staff through all phases of project execution, meeting as needed in person or by phone or email. The filmmaker will be required to enter into standard agreement contract before the award is final.
Artists to be featured in the films are located in Irwin, Meridian, Lapwai, Boise and Owyhee, NV. Selected filmmakers must live in, or be willing to travel to, the location of the featured artist. Costs associated with the production including, but not limited to: travel, accommodations, meals, equipment, software, etc. are the responsibility of the filmmaker. Any expenses beyond the $1,500 production award will be assumed by the filmmaker.
Films must be completed by June 30, 2020. The filmmaker will deliver one (1) broadcast quality film in suitable file formats to be screened at Commission events, posted on Youtube or Vimeo, and distributed via social media.
Deadline for submission of qualifications to the Commission is Sept. 30, 2019. The selection committee will consist of ICA staff, along with other industry professionals. The selection committee will make the award based on their sole discretion. It is anticipated that the selection will be completed by October 8, 2019.
Filmmakers must currently live in Idaho, are at least 18 years-old, and must provide:
1. Statement of qualifications and experience related to creative film development, production, and post-production.
2. Examples of past projects, preferably of a similar size and scope.
