Surel’s Place in Garden City, ID (Boise), is seeking a part-time Operations Assistant to work with our staff and assist with the the organization’s mission: to support artists by providing them time and space to explore their creative process and connect with community. Surel’s Place offers professional artists’ residencies and art events for artists and patrons. We are a welcoming organization for emerging, mid-career, and established visual, performing, and literary artists.

The Operations Assistant manages the facilities, performs basic accounting, supports events, and assists with the Artist-in-Residence programs. This position reports to the Director of Development.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, energetic, personally accountable, and works well with people of diverse backgrounds. In addition, knowledge and interest in the Garden City/Boise arts community is a plus. This is a part-time role with work that can be completed remotely and requires working in-person for events and activities at the Surel’s Place facilities in Garden City.

The Operations Assistant’s duties fall into four categories:

  • Programming/Event Support
    • Set-up, take-down for art events, art shows
    • Communication with artists for residency program
    • Tech assistance – help with live streaming, camera operation, projection
    • Assist artists staying at the house
  • Facilities
    • Serve as main point person for the house and property
    • Stock house with supplies, as needed
    • Oversee house maintenance and repairs
  • Accounting
    • Assist with basic bookkeeping using Quickbooks and Bloomerang
    • Cash and check deposits to local bank
  • Marketing
    • In collaboration with staff, design, edit, and send out bi-weekly e-newsletter
    • Work with board and staff for graphic design needs
    • Manage outside graphic designer
    • Update website
    • Help maintain social media accounts

COMPENSATION: Hourly rate, starting at $17 – $19

BENEFITS: Paid time off – 4 hours per accrual of 100 hours worked

JOB TYPE: Part-time (+/- 15-20 hours/week)
