TAM Executive Director
JOB SUMMARY
The Executive Director (ED) of The Art Museum of Eastern Idaho (TAM) provides dynamic, creative, and strategic leadership to advance the ongoing evolution of creative engagement in eastern Idaho. The ED will have the opportunity to develop and implement a bold vision that carries forward its legacy of community and creativity through vibrant, experiential programming and inclusive partnerships.

The Executive Director will be a highly effective fundraiser who will craft and share the vision of TAM in ways that expand philanthropic support and earned revenue. The ED will work closely with TAM’s Board to support fundraising, raise the profile of TAM, and establish strategic connections at the local, regional and statewide levels.

The Executive Director will be positioned full-time and will lead a full-time staff of 3 – 4.

DUTIES
Visionary Leadership

Develop and implement a dynamic vision for TAM that carries forward its legacies of community and creativity, interprets its full history, and expands its relevance.

Expand partnerships with artists, scholars, and other institutions that align with the museum’s cultural significance and build financial sustainability. Lead the creation of innovative and engaging public programming.

Artistic Vision/Stewardship
Develop/conserve museum permanent collection
Curate exhibit season and individual exhibitions

Effective Fundraising and Earned Revenue Enhancement 
Expand corporate, foundation, government, and individual giving to ensure growth and support for ongoing museum programming and operations. Experience in capital campaigns optimal. Entrepreneurial spirit and skill set, with revenue development experience preferred.

Skilled Communications & Management 
Dynamic communications style with effective presentation skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to articulate TAM’s vision and operations to a wide range of audiences in engaging ways.

Oversee all external relations including publicity/marketing, donor relations, etc.

Develop, manage, and maintain a balanced operating budget.

Recruit and lead a well-qualified, high-performing staff. Highly skilled in project and team management with experience in leading transformative initiatives.

Ensure that TAM represents best practices in preservation, education and interpretation, management, and JEDAI (justice, equity, diversity, accessibility and inclusion).

Direct general maintenance/security of building/grounds.

QUALIFICATIONS
At least 5+ years of professional experience in non-profit management. Prior work in cultural heritage/museum administration preferred.

An undergraduate degree is required; a degree in business or non-profit administration (preferred), an advanced degree (MA, MBA, MFA etc.) is desirable.

Appreciation of art and architecture; engagement with contemporary art and design is desirable.

PAY & BENEFITS
This is a full-time, salaried position. Evening and weekend work may be required and attendance at local and regional events during evenings and weekends will be expected throughout the year.

TAM offers eight paid holidays and eight days of paid time off (accruing up to a maximum of 20 days).
The museum will make a matching contribution of up to 3% of an employee’s compensation through a SIMPLE IRA plan.

Salary Range:  $65,000 – 75,000 per year
