Creative Aging – Application for Organizations

Who May Apply?

Organizations may apply to be included in the Arts Idaho Creative Aging Directory if they provide, host, coordinate, or facilitate arts-based learning experiences for older adults.

Organizations may include, but are not limited to:

  • Arts organizations
  • Community arts centers
  • Libraries
  • Senior centers
  • Museums
  • Cultural organizations
  • Care facilities
  • Community education providers
  • Nonprofit organizations

Organizations applying to the directory should demonstrate the ability to support high-quality creative aging programming, either by directly providing instruction or by coordinating with qualified teaching artists.

Organization Requirements

Organization applicants must:

  • Provide, host, coordinate, or support arts learning experiences for older adults
  • Serve Idaho residents
  • Offer programs that take place in Idaho when supported by Arts Idaho funds
  • Demonstrate a commitment to accessibility, dignity, and participant-centered learning
  • Show capacity to support sequential arts learning over multiple sessions
  • Identify staff, teaching artists, partners, or contractors involved in creative aging programming
  • Describe how the organization supports safe, welcoming, and accessible learning environments
What We Look for in Organization Applications

Mission Alignment

The organization’s mission, programs, or community partnerships align with lifelong learning, arts access, older adult engagement, or community-based arts learning.

Creative Aging Program Capacity

The organization has experience or readiness to design, host, or coordinate sequential arts learning experiences for older adults.

Qualified Teaching Artists or Facilitators

The organization works with professional artists, teaching artists, or facilitators who have the skills to support older adult learning.

Accessibility and Participant Support

The organization can provide or coordinate accessible spaces, materials, communication, transportation support, adaptive tools, or other accommodations as appropriate.

Community Partnerships

The organization has the ability to partner with libraries, senior centers, care facilities, arts organizations, community groups, rural sites, or other local partners.

Culminating Event Support

The organization can support a final sharing, exhibition, reading, performance, open studio, celebration, or documentation process that honors participant work.

Administrative Readiness

The organization can communicate with participants, manage schedules, coordinate materials, and support teaching artists.

Organization Application Materials

The application must be completed in a single session. Prepare these materials and have them ready to upload or copy/paste into the application form.

This section contains essential contact information such as mailing address, email, etc.

Section 2: Organization Mission and Program Statement

Suggested length: 250–500 words. Be ready to paste this into a text box.

Organizations will describe their mission and explain how their work connects to older adults, arts learning, lifelong learning, community engagement, or creative aging.

Section 3: Creative Aging Program Approach

Suggested length: 250–500 words. Be ready to paste this into a text box.

Organizations will describe how they support high-quality creative aging programming.
The response should address:

  • How older adults are welcomed and supported
  • How participant voice, choice, dignity, accessibility, and social connection are prioritized
  • How the organization supports teaching artists
  • How programs are adapted for participants with different mobility, memory, vision, hearing, or energy needs
  • How the organization supports rural access, if applicable

Section 4: Supporting Materials

Be ready to upload two examples of supporting materials that could include:

  1. Organizational résumé or program history
  2. Staff or teaching artist bios
  3. Letters of support
  4. Sample program materials
  5. Photos, videos, or documentation of past programs
  6. Evidence of creative aging training, if applicable

The application must be completed in a single session. Prepare the materials described above and have them ready to upload or copy/paste into the application form. If you are applying as a teaching artist, fill out the teaching artist application form.
