Fractured Atlas - www.fracturedatlas.org, a website/community for artists. It has affordable health insurance, online courses, microgrants, and more. It appears that folklorists have been involved in it, because it has a check off box for "folk arts" and "tradition bearer."

Site that provides very useful info for all artists and ALL sole proprietors and independent contractors is www.ahirc.org.  It is the website for the Artists Health Initiative Resource Center, a collaborative effort of Actors Equity and Leveraging Investments in Creativity.  They provide state by state info and a range of other resources.  

Blue Avocado- www.blueavocado.org - (based in the Bay Area--is a great place to find really useful, extremely practical information for anyone running or working in a non profit. It is oriented to small and mid-sized non profits of all kinds and covers every nitty-gritty issue imaginable.
